About the event

Mama Glo speaks: From Incarceration to Liberation

Gloria Dean Williams served the longest sentence of any woman in Louisiana - 52 years. She was released in 2022. She tours the country sharing from her upcoming book “The Unbreakable Queen”. “I left prison loving people more than when I entered. My story has helped countless incarcerated women, as well as touched every single person I've met on the outside.” She has been a speaker at the Beyond the Bars Conference at Columbia University, and tours regularly with ArtSpot's performance The Road to Damascus (As Told by Grandmother to Little Red). “The worst thing to do is to incarcerate your mind with your body. You have to keep your mind free, planning the future."
